Auburn University at Montgomery’s MHA program earned initial CAHME accreditation for four years, recognizing its commitment to healthcare leadership education.
SPRING HOUSE, PA, UNITED STATES, September 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) Board of Directors approved the initial accreditation of Auburn University at Montgomery’s Master of Healthcare Administration degree program for a four-year term.
“CAHME accreditation reflects AUM’s unwavering commitment to quality and validates the strength of our Master of Healthcare Administration program,” said Mrinal Mugdh Varma, Ph.D., FACHE, Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor at Auburn University at Montgomery. “Through strong academic preparation, industry engagement, and a focus on leadership development, we are helping to close critical talent gaps while preparing professionals who can strengthen healthcare organizations, improve patient outcomes, and lead meaningful change across the healthcare sector.”
“As an advisory board member since the inception of AUM’s Master of Healthcare Administration program, I have seen the program’s intentionality on the commitment to excellence, relevance, and leadership development,” said Chad Collins, Vice President of Operations for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Plano, and MHA program advisory board member. “CAHME accreditation is important because it validates the quality of the program and demonstrates that it meets nationally recognized standards for preparing future healthcare leaders. It also signals to students, employers, and healthcare partners that AUM is committed to continuous improvement and to delivering an education that is aligned with the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.”
“Seeing AUM’s MHA program earn CAHME accreditation means a great deal to me. The program gave me far more than a degree—it gave me mentors, a strong foundation, and the skills that shaped me into the leader I am today,” said Baptist Health Care’s Director of Operations for Surgical Services, Cody R. Traffanstedt, FACHE, FACMPE, who is also an AUM MHA alumnus. “This recognition is a tribute to the faculty who invest so deeply in their students, and to the graduates carrying that work forward across Alabama and beyond.”
“Through evaluation by experts in both academia and healthcare practice, accredited programs demonstrate that their curriculum and competency models are aligned to industry needs and designed to prepare graduates for meaningful impact in the field,” said Maureen C. Jones, Ph.D., RN, President & CEO, CAHME.
