Watershed Health, the company driving patient care coordination across the healthcare ecosystem, today announced two new executive hires to propel the company into its next phase of growth and to deepen use cases in value-based care.
Malissa Binkley has been named Chief Operations Officer, where she will strengthen operational infrastructure and ensure the company scales effectively while maintaining a high-quality experience for patients, providers, and partners. She brings deep experience building and scaling operations in complex healthcare environments, including prior authorization and utilization management, and has supported organizations operating in value-based care models. Binkley served as Chief Operating Officer and later Chief Service Delivery Officer at Cohere Health, where she joined as employee number five and helped scale the company to more than 1,000 employees. Before Cohere, she held senior vice president of operations roles at ModivCare and Circulation and leadership roles at CareCentrix, Medco, Express Scripts, and JPMorgan Chase. She also led provider network operations at Cohere Health and CareCentrix, where she built and managed provider-facing capabilities alongside core service operations.
Monica Rivera has joined as Chief Growth Officer, where she will lead go-to-market strategy, payer and provider partnerships, and new business development. She brings extensive background to Watershed in Medicaid, commercial, and provider systems, focused on driving growth and impactful partnerships. Rivera comes from UnitedHealth Group, where she served as vice president of solutions, building and scaling national programs that addressed the needs of vulnerable populations. Before UnitedHealth Group, Rivera was Head of Commercial Growth at Circulation (acquired by ModivCare), where she expanded access to non-emergency medical transport and other non-clinical programs for millions of patients. She also served as Director of Urgent Care and Emergency Medical Services at Mass General Brigham. Rivera has a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she serves part-time on the teaching faculty, and has a medical degree from Tec de Monterrey in her native Mexico.
“We are investing in leaders who understand the disparate goals and needs across healthcare sectors and who can scale value and impact in the communities we serve,” said Effie Carlson, CEO of Watershed Health. “Malissa and Monica know how to open new markets, build strategic partnerships, and scale operations in complex environments without losing sight of what matters most, the patient. They will be instrumental as we expand our reach across the country in this pivotal growth phase.”
