SchoolsFirst FCU Launches Credit Card Promotion to Help Members Offset Transportation Costs
The promotion was inspired by credit card spending trends the Credit Union is seeing across its Membership. Average credit card gas spending has increased 15% year over year, growing three times faster than the 5% increase in overall non-gas spending. Approximately 77,000 Members use their SchoolsFirst FCU credit card for gas purchases each month, representing 28% of active Members.
During the promotion period, eligible existing credit cardholders and Members who open a new eligible SchoolsFirst FCU credit card can earn enhanced rewards on qualifying gas and EV charging purchases. Depending on the card product, Members may earn 5% cash back or 5x points. No registration is required and new cardholders are automatically eligible.
“Our Members continue to face rising everyday expenses, and transportation costs remain an important part of household budgets,” said Amy Hsu, senior vice president, Payments & Fraud. “We’re seeing Members spend more on gas than they did a year ago. This promotion is one way we’re helping put a little money back in their pockets on purchases they’re already making.”
While the promotion focuses on gas and EV charging rewards, it also reflects SchoolsFirst FCU’s commitment to helping Members make smart financial choices. By offering credit cards with competitive rates and rewarding everyday spending, SchoolsFirst FCU provides a cost-effective alternative to many traditional credit card options.
