L’Héritage Opens School Holiday Dining for Mosman Families at Chowder Bay

SYDNEY, New South Wales, June 28, 2026 — L’Héritage, the French bistro at Chowder Bay Wharf in Mosman, is presenting its family dining offering ahead of the school holiday window opening on 26 June, with Victorian, South Australian, and New South Wales families all entering break periods across late June and July. The restaurant’s combination of a dedicated children’s menu, spacious heritage interior, waterfront national park setting, and classical French bistro menu positions it as a distinctive family lunch destination on the lower North Shore during the holiday period.

French dining restaurant Sydney

“The idea has always been that a French bistro should feel welcoming rather than formal,” said Alena Rayrolles, Co-Owner, L’Héritage. “Good food, warm service, and a room where everyone feels comfortable. That applies as much to a family Sunday lunch during school holidays as it does to a celebration dinner. The building, the harbour view, and the national park around it make it an outing rather than just a meal.”

L’Héritage occupies a heritage-listed former Navy drill hall at Chowder Bay, built in the 1890s and set within Clifton Gardens, Sydney Harbour National Park. The building’s high ceilings, open layout, and wide windows framing harbour views across to Clifton Gardens provide a dining environment suited to groups with children, with space and natural light that formal city restaurants typically cannot offer.

Children’s Menu and French Bistro Classics Side by Side

The restaurant operates a dedicated children’s menu alongside its full classical French bistro offering, allowing family groups to order across both without compromise on either side. The adult menu covers escargot in garlic butter, beef tartare, oysters, and salmon gravlax with Sterlet caviar as opening options. Main course selections include Canard à l’Orange, dry-aged minute steak, a 1.2-kilogram Tomahawk for group sharing, whole New Zealand red snapper, and lobster with herb butter.

A Chef’s Table degustation at $149 per person is available for adults seeking a structured multi-course format at the same table as family members ordering from the main menu. Optional caviar service with Champagne is available for celebrations. The full menu is led by Head Chef Julien Audibert-Lebon, who trained in Paris and brings classical French technique to fresh Australian seasonal produce. Co-Owner Alena Rayrolles was born in Australia and raised in France, a background reflected in the restaurant’s service style — formal French hospitality delivered without stiffness.

Lunch Sessions and Weekend Availability During School Holidays

Service operates Wednesday to Sunday, with lunch from 11am to 3.30pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 10pm. Lunch sessions are particularly suited to family visits, offering a relaxed pace with harbour views and the surrounding bushland accessible for a short walk before or after the meal.

The restaurant also operates private event spaces for families celebrating milestone occasions during the school holiday period. A Private Salon seats 10 to 24 guests for intimate gatherings, and full venue hire accommodates 40 seated or 80 standing for larger celebrations.

L’Héritage is located at 7B Chowder Bay Road, Mosman NSW 2088, with access by bus into Mosman, limited metered parking on Chowder Bay Road, taxi and rideshare drop-off, and water taxi arrival directly at Chowder Bay Wharf. Early booking is recommended for weekend lunch services across the July school holiday window. Reservations are available through lheritage.com.au.
